Requirements :

  • Matric Certificate .A Basic R425 (i.e. diploma/ degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification that allows for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse. Proof of current registration. A post-basic in Midwifery Nursing qualification with duration of at least 1 year, accredited SANC in the specialty referred to in the glossary of terms. A minimum of 4 years appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after Registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC in General Nursing (Minus 1 year experience for candidates appointed from outside the public service after complying with registration requirements).

Duties :

  • Demonstrate an understanding of nursing legislation and related legal and ethical nursing practices. Perform clinical nursing practice in accordance with the scope of practice and nursing standards. Promote quality as directed by the professional scope of practice and standards. Demonstrate effective communication with supervisors and other clinicians including report writing when required. Work as part of the multidisciplinary team. Able to plan and organise own work and that of support personnel. Display concern for patients, promoting and advocating proper treatment and care. Willingness to respond to needs, requirements and expectations. Work effectively, co-cooperatively, amicably with persons of diverse social backgrounds. Lead the team in the absence of the operational manager.
